The narrow limits of Working Memory (WM).
"A word is on your tounge, but you can´t recall it? Or when you teach a concept Monday, but by Wednesday it is like it never happened?
These are the limits of WM playing out in daily learning failures in every classroom. WM is essential for new learning and particulary pupils dealing with complex tasks, so it gets a near constant workout. There isn´t an opportunity for expanding your WM! Instead teachers need to grapple with story telling, curriculum sequencing ,´chunking´, and more. -
